IC Information

Canon: Arknights

Character: Executor Federico Giallo

Canon point:
The nature of gacha games is that the story is always progressing. The character roster is just so packed that this isn’t too troublesome with certain characters. Federico is featured in some events, though, and one quite heavily. The version of Federico I’m playing is specifically from a couple months after the Hortus de Escapismo event (so he’s got some character development under his belt. And a sick new alt unit. Seriously, look at his 5 star art vs. his 6 star art.)

I could have him after ZH event but this app already turned out freaking long and I’m not as familiar with that one SOOOO.

Canon intensity:
I’d say Arknights has like…a higher teen rating. The main themes deal a lot in the horrors of war, fantasy racism, classism, disease, murder, genocide…cults, religious trauma, trauma in general. Federico himself deals with many very intense missions, one of which it is reported he tore the aorta out of a dangerous beast with his bare hands, without batting an eye. We don’t see it but it is mentioned. In the Hortus event, he witnessed a suicide of someone right in front of him that he was unable to stop. Anyway. Dark themes, but the graphic, gorey details aren’t shown. There’s proper tact given for these things. Hope is also a running theme through it all.

World information:
Oh boy. Arknights lore is rich and expansive, it’s hard to cover all of it. As a whole, the world of Terra can be considered similar Earth, but it does have rather frequent natural disasters called catastrophes. These disasters are almost apocalyptic in scale, such as massive storms, blizzards, floods, and meteor showers. Because of their frequency and unpredictability (although there is developing technology and work to detect and predict them) many civilizations are nomadic, set up to be on the move using landships. So uh. Normal Boat might actually seem NORMAL to Federico.

The world of Arknights seems to be a more sci-fi fantasy setting, with fanciful races that have various animal traits, swords and magic (called Arts in this world) backed up with technology. Not as far as spaceships and such, but there are cars and lightbulbs in some cultures powered by Originium. There are also drones/robots?? Some cultures in Terra are definitely more advanced than others.

Originium is a rare but volatile resource, a black, crystal looking mineral that forms on its own. It’s known to have connections to calamities, either forming after they strike or cause calamities themselves. Originium is not radioactive but it is highly unstable in its raw form, and very dangerous as it can assimilate with living beings, causing a disease called Oripathy.

Oripathy is a widespread disease in the world of Terra, as all cultures use Originium in some way. Oripathy is a form of…magic rock cancer that’s highly contagious through blood or inhalation. There is heavy prejudice and fear around this particular illness, and something Rhodes Island is trying to help counteract, searching for ways to treat and even cure Oripathy.

Rhodes Island is the main faction the game follows, based in a landship, and they’re a sort of…pharmaceutical company that aims to care for the Infected. However due to the conflict surrounding them, they are also capable of military operations to fight for the rights of the Infected as well. Federico is contracted with Rhodes Island to help carry out rights related to Laterano operators there.

There are various divinities and cultures in the world of Terra. Federico is from Laterano (basically fantasy Italy), and operates under a divinity called "The Law" which seems to be. Some sort of super-computer built long ago?? Not too much is known about this. But laws and regulations and contracts are super important in Laterano, to the point of being a religion to them. They’re governed by a ruling Pope, even. Sankta also tend to love sweets. And explosions. Sankta (angel-like being Fedi is, main population of Laterano) seem to really like blowing up structures. For enrichment. Federico himself occasionally sets up landmines around the Doctor’s office and had to be. Redirected.

It’s not like the electric fence is exactly better, but…

Character biofacts:
Age: Around 25

Height: 5 feet 9 inches

Gender: Male

Species: Sankta

Health status: Healthy, fit, not infected with Oripathy.

About the character:

Federico's mother and father were both professional Executors with the Fifth Tribunal of the Notarial Hall in Laterano. They died on a mission when Federico was ten years old. This likely has something to do with his withdrawn, “robot-like” personality (on top of well. What is likely autism). From there, he was taken in by Arturia’s (his cousin’s) family, and raised alongside her like brother and sister for around two to three years.

Unfortunately, tragedy also befell this branch of the Giallo family. A series of events happened that lead to the death of Federico's aunt and the disappearance of his uncle. Arturia and her Arts (which have the ability to remove the inhibitions of those who listen to her music) happen to be at the center of these incidents. She would have been about thirteen or fourteen years old at the time.

Arturia is imprisoned for having a hand in these incidents, but she escapes and goes on to incite more chaos in other nations. Federico, an orphan once again, moved to school to study as an Executor himself, like his parents, living in the dorms there. He’s taken personal responsibility for Arturia's case, tracking her down to arrest her and stop her from causing more tragedy. Who was a sister to him is now his first criminal to pursue as an Executor.

As an Executor, Federico’s responsible for (and usually goes overboard on) enforcing Lateran citizen’s rights, and this includes the last words of the dying or deceased. This sends him on many missions, one of which led him to a dying Lateran mechanic, who’s final request was to protect a young Vulpo girl named Vermeil. This girl had been previously injured in a beast attack, and the mechanic had recently crafted a prosthetic for her with limited supplies. Taking this as a contract he must uphold, Federico took Vermeil in as a ward of sorts, leading her to Rhodes Island to get treatment for her Oripathy, protection, and regular maintenance on her prosthetic arm. Over time, while it’s hard to read, it seems Federico has come to care greatly for Vermeil; oops, single father! /j Joking aside, there are several instances of Fedi's earnest, straightforward demeanor being a hit with the kids, actually.

When Fedi is around 25, we have the Hortus de Escapismo event, and it seems he's growing more curious and asking more questions. He’s appointed as a Saint by the current ruling Pope, which is unheard of for ages…usually it’s just Popes being appointed as Saints. It is an extremely high honor. There are rumors of this being preparation for some oncoming disaster, and the Pope says he’d received revelation of such, and he wants to prepare Federico to lead Laterans when this time comes.

His first mission as Saint is…alot. It’s a search and rescue mission involving a mobile monastery of Sarkaz worshippers. There are ages of bad blood between the Sarkaz and Sankta, which makes tensions run high as Federico and his fellow operators; Richele and Spuria, work to retrieve the missing envoys.

Alot happens here; the main takeaways are Federico shooting a holy statue before it could fall and kill people, following logic that it does not matter if it’s holy when a life is in danger. While Federico is now a saint and a religious figure, it's a good indicator of his morals.

More things happen, ending with the destruction of the monastery, a burning garden, and suicide of a religiously jaded gardener, Clement. This man’s emotions had been unleashed by, wow look who it is! Arturia. Federico pulls a gun on her and fires, despite her gleefully informing him that she’s under protection of Leithania now. His fellow operators try to stop him, but Arturia goads him on, and Federico fires with the intent to kill her. Her Arts protect her, however she seems to be enjoying this as a game. Once again, Arturia escapes, but this time with a promise to see her dear cousin soon.

This whole incident understandably rattles Federico, leaving him with many questions over The Law and its execution (wow, a crisis of faith!!). How the mission was a success, and yet the results are still unsatisfactory…why? The criteria had been met. Minimal casualties. Why does it not feel…right? Upon reporting to the Pope, however, he receives much praise and even instruction to continue questioning things like this. But when you receive instruction from authority to question authority, what do you…do?

In the ashes of the garden, near a Gardener who believed his only choice was to die, a lone flower was left. Federico took this flower and preserved it carefully, pondering its significance as a piece of life left in the aftermath of tragedy. The petals are a little singed, but still alive and beautiful. For the Gardener this was not enough, but to Federico, it could be the catalyst to something much more…he makes sure to present his findings to The Doctor when he returns to Rhodes Island.

(I’m thinking Fedi ends up on the boat like a couple months after this!)

Abilities:
Every Sankta born in Laterano has an innate empathy link built into their halo, possibly due to their proximity to The Law. Federico’s link is a bit weaker than others, since he doesn’t live constantly in Laterano. It seems those who live away from their city for extended periods experience some atrophy to this link…not that it ever helped Federico all that much anyway, since his understanding of social cues and emotional information is…um. Lacking. He’s getting better though. But yeah, halo to halo emotional communication sure is a thing.

Fedi is well studied in various legal systems and languages, and functions as a sort of low level bureaucrat with Rhodes Island to execute functions related to Laterano rights. (IE. Walking talking law encyclopedia)

Federico, being an Executor, also has the ability to use his patron firearm against other Sankta without becoming Fallen. When an average Sankta uses their gun against another, they become fallen, even if this attack is by accident, like from a stray shot. Fallen Sankta’s halos darken and change shape in various ways, and some even gain Sarkaz qualities like horns, scales, or tails. Because of Federico holding a position as an Executor of Laterano law, he sometimes needs to use lethal force against other Sankta and is thus exempt from the fallen effect.

Also, bullets are rare in Arknights. Fedi is able to use his Arts as bullets, so the only resource there is his own energy. Magic bullets are probably less destructive than Originium bullets, too.

He’s an excellent shot, skilled in hand to hand combat and very fit and efficient in whatever his work entails, even if he can be a bit literal and go overboard on some objectives. He wields two shotguns, sometimes at once, although he doesn’t…need them. He’s been known to be given just a stick and being able to carry out his missions to precision.

Federico has also been known to be good with technology upkeep, stating that it’s easier to work with machines than people. Considering his robotic disposition this makes. Sense. He’d probably be interested in employment from the Ship.

Noteworthy items:
You know what, I’m still figuring him out, I’m leaving his weird drone cube thing out of this for now.

Combat ready clothing, which is apparently specially made for his new status as a Saint. It has some form of shock and piercing damage resistance, as well as some anti-riot capabilities. It’s also likely stain resistant.

He has two patron shotguns, a couple grenades??? And a small basic first aid kit. A little trinket on a keychain made of…fox fur? (A “lucky charm” from his ward, Vermeil). A bookmark with blue and white flowers pressed in it (a gift from Ezell and Cecelia). A dried, carefully preserved flower. It’s a little bit singed on some petals…
Also about eight Originium bullets.

Mixed gender room ok?: Yeah that’s fine!

Player content notes/squicks:
The parasite adjacent nature of The Growth is already sorted, so all good there, I’m…opted out of that factor for the time being. Sexual content is also just not something I’m super keen on engaging with, not that I expect it in game.

Anything else:
Oh yea Sankta can’t fly with their wings, they’re more decoration than anything. Probably wouldn’t be too pleasant to get them damaged tho! (Whump liker here, would love to explore wing or halo damage HAHA)

Hmmmm I love hurt/comfort. Also just adore the idea of tossing Federico at very different people, since he’s already on a journey to better…understand other people’s views and beliefs. Normal Boat is a great place for that, it seems. Also to get the stoic guy hurt and have chances to un-stoic him :))) Exciting!!

I think he’d also be interested in Employment from the ship? He can at least try and fix machinery and help ensure safety of the ship’s residents.
